PTFE tapes (also known as Teflon tapes) are placed on the sealing wire and prevent hot polymer from sticking to the jaws during welding.
The non-stick effect of Teflon begins to degrade after approximately 1,750 welds.
To maintain the quality of the welds, both tapes should be replaced. The replacement can be easily done by the user.
